>start writing novel
>slowly turns into me just venting via writing
does this happen to anyone else?

It's fine to vent, the idea is how you vent, make it interesting and fun.

This happens to failures who write more out of resentment than out of boredom.

what if i do it out of both?

That doesn't matter. One drive always takes supremacy over the other. Resentment takes supremacy in your case.

>start writing novel
>spend a whole day on it
>manage to write only 1000 words
>squeeze my mind to add more words
>can at best garner 500 more words in a chapter
Well, guess poetry is more up my alley since i lack the skills to shit 2000 words in 20 minutes.

there is literally nothing wrong with that as long as you keep the plot as the foundation.

anyone cn shit out 2000 words in 20 minutes, the key is to not give a shit about the quality and just go for quantity, then you go back through and take out the little nuggets that actually came out sounding decent and use them. this is hugely important for any creative endeavor and there's a word for it and you could probably find books talking about it, but idk

I think too much about my words and my style to care about quantity or plan ahead. Plus, if too much time elapses i'll just abandon the project because i won't feel like writing it anymore. On the other hand, poetry solves all of these problems because it's short and can be filled with meaning without using too many words.

Writing fiction always ends up being a form of involuntary autobiography. The more intuitive, unplanned, improvisational it is, the more the result will be a manifestion of your unconscious.

seriously, try to ignore that and just vomit the thought out onto the page as much as possible for a first draft.

That's like 90% of what writing is.
You just have to make sure it doesnt sound whiny when you do it.

A major part of writing is venting, the trick is to make it look more natural and less retarded.
