Bridge to Terabithia, a Taste of Blackberries. Animorphs. Tale of Desperaux, believe it or not. Charlotte's Web. Stuff like that.
Simple expressions of emotions from simple, empathetic characters. Gets me every time.

I cried a bit after reading Stoner.
I thought to myself "Here's a worm of a man whose life has ended in such a depressing manner, and still he has achieved more and risen to greater heights than I ever will"
Lord Jim did not give me that same depth of emotion, but I felt it for much longer after I had finished reading it.

Maupassant, Pierre and Jean.

Mucho feels, in a very small package.

Don't be deceived by the deceptively slow, somewhat mundane build-up. At a certain point, the veil is torn away.

Just opened the thread to say this lmao. I'm amazed so many people know about Stoner. That book is incredible and unrated as fuck (except on /tv/, where people generally know about it).

That last chapter is horrifying.
