No.
Back-and-forth dialogue with line breaks after every sentence works fine as a script for an anime, but reading an entire book written that way is incredibly tedious. It doesn't help that the books are 90% dialogue, most of which is completely superfluous fluff meant only to make the characters seem cuter. When people say that you need to know Japanese to "get" Monogatari, it's not because the writing has any complexity, it's because the characters are constantly speaking in untranslatable puns or referencing made-for-TV Doraemon movies that were never released outside of Japan.

really? I've read parts of Kizumonogatari and there was a good deal of internal monologue

Both. If you like one, you'll like the other. The anime is an extremely limited part of the whole story and only covers up to the first five LNs.

They're pretty good books, although I think a lot of the stuff post Bake felt really bloated, and could have easily been cut down to roughly the length of the first handful of story arcs. Like having Nise cut down and made into one book, same for Neko black and white etc.

>"Flashy visuals and an average script is better than a great script and boring visuals" ~ Akiyuki Shinbo (rough translation)

The true and patrician way to experience this series is to watch the anime and not read a single line of the subtitles. In fact I pity the Japanese that are forced to watch the show in their own language and would encourage them to watch it dubbed in a foreign language with no subtitles to get the authentic experience.

>Hitagi Senjougahara occupies the position of 'the girl who's always ill' in our class. She's not expected to participate in PE of course and is even allowed to suffer morning and school-wide assemblies in the shade, alone, as a precaution against anemia or something. Thought we've been in the same class my first, my second, and this, my third and final year of high school, I've never once seen her engaged in any sort of vigorous activity. She's a regular at the nurse's room, and she arrives late, leaves early, or simply doesn't show up to school bcause she has to visit her primary care hospital, time and again. To the point where it's rumored in jest that she lives there.
>Though "always ill," she is by no means sickly. She's graceful, like her thin lines could snap at a touch, and has this evanescent air, which must be why some of the boys refer to her as "the cloistered princess" half-jokingly, half-seriously. You could say earnestly. That phrase and its connotations aptly describe Senjogahara, I agree.
>Senjogahara is always alone reading a book in one corner of a classroom. At times that book is an inposing hardcover, and at others it's a comic that could permanently damage your intellect to judge from its cover design. She seems to be one of those voracious readers. Maybe she doesn't care as long as there are words in it, maybe she has some sort of clear standard.
This is not terrible by light novel standards, but it's perfectly average by YA standards.
