Does anyone know any literature involving hunger/asceticism.
I know Franz Kafka, Dostoevsky, Jane Eyre - Charlotte Bronte and Hunger - Knut Hamsun.

I was considering reading up on hagiographies and Christian mysticism also.

I had Tropic of Cancer - Henry Miller recommended as well. I also know that Madame Bovary mentions her diet briefly.

You actually lose any hunger if you fast enough. Almost have to force yourself to eat, and feel worse when you do.

Not literature, but Simone Weil is interesting in this regard.
