Just finished this book.

What did I think of it?

>> No.14881901

You thought it was good.

>> No.14881903

You think Céline is based and/or redpilled.

Are you NPC or what? Fucking enjoyment and melancholy because it`s over.

>> No.14882113

honestly probably my favorite book of all time. I'm a sucker for picaresque stories, especially ones as richly detailed and expressive as this one.

Does Robinson represent something? The fact Ferdinand meets him so many times, everywhere he goes and the fact that the book ends with his death makes me think so but I dunno I'm pretty dumb.

>> No.14882143

>>14882130
Céline isn't a brainlet concerned with meaning and metaphor

>> No.14882241

Normally I agree but while reading this book I REALLY felt like Robinson was supposed to represent something or mirror something about Ferdinand in some way. It can't be a coincidence that he meets him everywhere and things always seem to go bad when he meets him and the book's ending.

I loved the grandma

Ferdinand’s doppelgänger who gives up on life after the adventure. Ferdinand understands why Robinson took the easy way out but can’t bring himself to do the same.

You thought it was good until the protagonist came back to France to practice medicine then Celine lost the pacing that made the first half of the book captivating and it genuinely bored you to the end (but when you talk to your friends you'll pretend you liked the whole book because that's the "right" opinion to have)
