What should I read that's similar to this? I read very little of genre fiction, but everything I even attempt to read that's supposedly good doesn't even compare to this. Everything else just has ridiculous or degenerate stuff in it. Women wearing plate armour and not getting raped while acting as frontline soldiers, guys getting cucked, male (or otherwise) feminists writing characters as some sort of perverted leftist archetypes in order to seduce the reader into their ideology.

Why does NOTHING compare to this? I'm genuinely asking this question. Is a man like me just left with novels where men suffer for 300 pages?

Read what Tolkien read. Old mythology and william Morris

>Why does NOTHING compare to this?
Because Tolkien poured his heart out.
Nothing compares to it because it is THE Catholic book. And considering Catholicism absorbed all the Western pagan traditions, The Lord of the Rings is basically The West: The Book

Read The Silmarillion if you haven't already.
If you have, then read it again.

Tolkein stole the idea of the ring from Wagner.

Must be because we know it isn't the Bible.

THE Catholic book is a fantasy fiction novel. Christcucks have zero self-awareness I swear

Why don't you read more Tolkien? Have you read the Silmarillion? Unfinished Tales? Children of Hurin?

>> No.14869260

There's nothing that compares. I don't much like the Silmarillion - the fantasy comes undone when the history and mythology is at the forefront, rather than as the background feature of LotR.

Other fantasy authors are so bad, I can only conclude that nostalgia has severely biased those that recommend them.

>THE catholic book is a piece of escapist genre fiction
>not the divine comedy
The absolute state of “catholic” zoomers who refuse to read anything beyond the surface level of the written word. LotR is good but it is not close to the height of literature.

Tolkien resonates with Caucasians/European descent readers because what he put in those books are in your genetic memory. They are actually historical fiction, Tolkien spent many hours researching European history in Oxford library. He also worked very hard writing those books, and poetry in them, and even created a new language for them. The books are a treasure by any literature standard.

It is the only book that I have read 10+ times and yet enjoyed it more and more, always focusing on something that I didn't notice at first. Sadly after that one I could never read books with the same passion. How do I get back anons, it is killing me
