What does /lit/ think of this book?

Orwell's finest?

>> No.1486056

Probably.

The man was a brute. This is his least brutish work.

>> No.1486062

>>1486056

You mean it was his least violent?

He wasn't violent.

He shot at like one person and then instantly regretted it.

Violent behavior wasn't what I was alluding to at all.

Just read the book OP. It's his best.

I love /lit/'s reading comprehension.

Read it, love it.

Down and Out is my favourite of his by far though.

>> No.1486090

I read liked "Keep the Aspidistra Flying", a shame most Orwell fans haven't read it.

Down and out was great.

I think his style is far more suited to non-fiction journalistic writings.

>> No.1486098

>>1486090

That is my least favourite Orwell text.

Agreed. His fiction can be didactic and preachy.

>> No.1486121

I've always maintained that this is his best, you feel less like he's hitting you around the head with his politics, it's more subtle.
