Based Mearsheimer is based. Also love the Straussian reccs. Have you read any Richard Rorty? I read an article connecting Straussian esotericism with Rortian irony, but I haven't seen anyone else try to make the connection (most Straussians treat "postmodern" theory as heretical from my experience...time that could be better spent counting the number of times Xenophon uses "virtue" in an obscure dialogue...)

@OP, you should also read a fair amount of political history

The Best and the Brightest by Halberstram is a personal favorite of mine

Understanding how we went from Kennedy --> Johnson --> Nixon --> Ford and the various fuck-ups in between is imo critical to understanding US politics
