Is Spinoza's argument for God in the Ethics correct? Also who was in the wrong here?

Looks like they're evenly matched. A battle of the brains.

THe guy argues that god exists using the ideas of plato, Aquinus, and Spinoza, but wants to reproach him? IDK if he understands what he read because in Plato and Aquinus, God is the superlative good or metaphysical reference point.

Who the fuck cares
Define God as "the primordial cause for everything" and go on with your shitty life because you aren't smart or clever enough to grasp the implications of this existing if you have to ask this question

Spinoza is playing a bit fast and loose with the proof for god. One would have to confer with his commentary on Descartes and the Tractatus to see what he says about philosophy. In the latter, he says philosophic accounts begin with a natural history, and in the former, he suggests that the Euclidean approach (which the Ethics resembles) isn't sufficiently philosophical.

But at bottom, he argues definitionally, which is more rhetorical than anything else. One would have to work out why he does that in the Ethics, based on his comments elsewhere.

>No it isnt
Its one thing to disagree with the proofs, but to say the proofs dont exist in those works is retarded. Probably doesnt even know what a proof is. Reddit atheists really are the lowest of the low.

You can just respond by saying Nietzsche, Hume, Russell. But there's no actual conversation going on if no one addresses anything specific.
