Probably destroyed alongside the rest of native South American culture by the Spanish. Who knows how deep the canon of mythology and storytelling went before it was all lost. I do genuinely find it quite saddening. Clearly at some point in time these were quite well advanced people, capable of building large and complex structures like their pyramids. It's not unlikely that alongside that came some form of storytelling tradition - be that written or oral, which has now been lost.

A lot of the mythology is recorded I think. You wouldnt have found a novel like writer as in Tolkein it simply didn't exist then.

Aztecs weren't really Mexicans, they considered themselves racially distinct from the "aboriginals"(who they were hated by) and came to there to rule from a distant land, when Cortes arrive they told him he perhaps came from the land where their forebears had come from.

I dont care at all if they want to make a Lotr with black people in it. The only thing I don't like is when they criticize movies that are all white. There is nothing wrong with the movie being all white, and it makes for a sort of cohesion to have all the people be one race.
