Do you have:
>gf
>good friends
>social life
>good job/grades
If not then reading books will not fix any of these things and these are the most important things to be happy, if you sit in your house lonely as fuck and read that will not make your life better

I'm sitting in my own house (as in, mortgage) on my day off (as in, regularly employed) while my gf sleeps. The only thing is
>friends
But >friends is just a terrible excuse for merchants to try and rob me of my finances under the guise of being "properly" "social" by attending their shitty live entertainment which doesn't even provide a meaningful, lasting personal value to account for or offset the price of admission. I actually get quite animated when people invite me out and make a spectacular fool out of myself in my berating of the things they're considering spending their money on, but it's all in good cheer. I get more than enough social airtime while I'm at work, that I don't need to go drink a beer or watch a movie with these fucks. The last thing I did with some current and former coworkers (a bit of a reunion) was go-karting. It ended up costing about $45 for less than an hour of enjoyment, a blatant ripoff I would never repeat. I'd rather buy my own go-kart.

Nobody says you have to go out and socialize if you wish to be a hermit nobody with no friends. Also, you could join a book club to get more substance out of your life. Why are you bringing money into the equation? Tons of stuff out there is free and you’re missing it. Sightseeing is one of them, besides travel costs and work obligations.

Where do you live that has book clubs being something other than middle aged women just using it as an excuse to go out with some friends and gossip?

I just finished a book. Plus I just took some painkillers so I'm probably gonna pass out sometime soon.

Yeah, you don’t read as a replacement for those things. Also reading in itself doesn’t really matter, it’s about what you read. Also what does a good life constitute? I have none of these things and fairly occasionally have mental breakdowns and suicidal ideation, yet if I had these things I wouldn’t have the personal level of intellectual satisfaction that I have.
