The only /lit/ fountain pens are one dollar pens from China. The benefits of anything more expensive are negligible and are only of interest to the collector and the antiquarian. Pic-related is the Jinhao 992. I myself have 20 of them. They are as disposable as a ballpoint and the nib suffers from little loss of quality.

This desu. Cursive is the only way to write with a fountain pen. Print writing is naturally too choppy to actually enjoy them. Fountain pens are all about flow.

I have a lot of ink bottles in all sorts of colours. The piston filler really makes them flexible so I end up carrying three at a time. I lend them out a lot and they break sometimes so I like to have a lot on-hand and also because I don't like waiting a month for them to be shipped.

The model is exceptional. Screw on caps are far more durable than click on caps, the included standard international converter is practical, the design is minimal and clean and all for 1 US dollar. The only thing I don't like is the knob at the back, but the pen really just sells itself.

I don't use fountain pens solely for aesthetics but I find it more interesting that you imply that an artist, a writer, can't appreciate aesthetics to the purpose of creating good art. Besides, if you're not a burger and are trained in cursive (which means you write with your arm and not your hand) you would know that fountain pens write without ever having to press the nib to the page unlike ballpoint pens. You only have to hover the nib, and this means you can write faster and for longer.
