So, /lit/, who inspires you?

Who have you read that you derived inspiration from, who has driven you to live your life?

>> No.1468255

Nelson Mandela!

>> No.1468258

I drive myself to live my life. If you live your life for any other reason then yourself, you are not really living.

But... authors that helped me get to that point...

Ram Dass
Carl Sagan
Thoreau

Bukowski. He's one of many reasons why I'm not a junkie or a drunk any more.

The topic is more like, who has inspired you to live for yourself, as opposed to living your life for anything else, obviously.

After reading 'A Room of One's Own' by Virginia Woolf I was inspired to move out to a small town in the middle of nowhere and live in a secluded area, in my own little room, undisturbed and able to focus on my writing and thoughts. It has worked out well thus far, and my writing is improving.

NeverEnding Story by Michael Ende.

Atreyu is awesome. It peeves me big time that a lame metalcore band has the privilege of bearing his name.
