Wittgenstein is a particularly bad offender with this one (translated) in Philosophical Investigations.

I also seem to remember that the Constance Garnett translations of Dostoevsky made frequent use of "so to say".

My favorite page of the Book of Kells, the first Latin word of Luke 1:1, is a highly stylized "QUONIAM". In KJV this is rendered "Forasmuch"

I've been reading a lot of lovecraft recently, and neither of these has shown up enough to excite any notice.
If you could, please let me know, in which stories did you find these to be too heavily used?

That's actually one of the ones next on my list. I was planning on reading it (or starting it, as time permits) tomorrow in fact. If this thread is still active once I've finished I'll get back to you with my opinion.

Just finished it. Unless you enjoy reading elongated descriptions of how the landscape makes the author feel, a good half of the story isn't going to be very enjoyable. It does pick up towards the end, though.
