14662606 No.14662606 [Reply] [Original]

Hey /lit/, I think we should create a new Paleoconservative/ traditionalist conservative chart.

I like this one, but I think we should make one that’s more central to America (I’m fine with some foreign authors).

>> No.14662683

Books we should definitely keep:
>Reflections on the Revolution of France by Edmund Burke
>The Conservative Mind by Russell Kirk
>Christianity and Culture by TS Eliot
>The Reactionary Imperative by Mel Bradford
>The Abolition of Man by CS Lewis
>The American Republic by Orestes Brownson
>A Defense of the Constitution of the United States of America by John Adams
>The Quest for Community by Robert Nisbert
>Democracy and Leadership by Irving Babbitt
>Religion and the Rise of Western Culture by Christopher Dawson

>> No.14662692

>>14662683
Definitely keep Christopher Lasch and the Culture of Narcissism

But also:
>The True and Only Heaven: Progress and Its Critics
>The Revolt of the Elites: And the Betrayal of Democracy

>> No.14662710

>>14662606
Include books from Thomas E. Woods

>> No.14662725

>>14662606
Conservatives are retards both socially and economically. Why would you want literature on it?

For a Roger Scruton book, I think we should include his last work.

>Conservatism: An Invitation to the Great Tradition

>> No.14662736

>>14662728
Don't forget a pack of cigs

>> No.14662825

I’d also keep:
> The Origins and Principles of the American Revolution, compared with the Origin and Principles of the French Revolution by Friedrich Von Gentz (trans. by John Quincy Adams)
> Historical Consciousness; or, The Remembered Past by John Lukacs
>The Benedict Option by Rod Dreher
>Ideas Have Consequences by Richard M Weaver
>Why Liberalism Failed by Patrick J Deneen

>> No.14662843

>>14662683
Is The Conservative Mind by Russell Kirk on Amazon the complete version? Some of the reviews are saying that it is an abridged version.

>> No.14662868

>>14662843
Not sure, I’ll have to check that out. But definitely get the complete version (he expended it like 20 years after the initial puplication).

>> No.14662869

>>14662725
Those are Neocons you are thinking about anon, not real conservatives.

>> No.14662902

>>14662710

I feel like we shouldn’t include libertarian authors (even paleolibertarians). I know they have worked together before, but most paleocons and tradscon don’t like the free market.
