When you’re such a degenerate, broken nation that the best stylist of your language is a Romanian immigrant who learned French after he came to Paris. Not only that, but he also thinks he is too good to accept your prizes. Out of all the 20th century existentialists, he had the most hardcore philosophy and his prose packed quite a punch. He is just now being discovered by the wider reading world (read the Anglophones) through Ligotti, Eugene Thackeray and “True Detective”. I bet you that in a hundred years from now, Camus will be seen as a discount version of Cioran.

I'll grant you that Sartre is shit, however on the same token whenever I ask a girl what philosophy she has read she always answers Sartre and never Heidegger, so he popularity among the existentialists i dont think is in question, its just that he's the saturday morning cartoon version.
