14657558 No.14657558 [Reply] [Original]

i'm male but i've had this idea for a lesbian love story stuck in my head for a long time but i don’t know any lesbians irl and i don’t trust lesbian representations in popular media and books as a lot of them is either erotic fiction or follow a lot of bad lesbian story tropes like the secret lesbian love affair or it's about them coming out of the closet and most of them time the two girls don’t end up together in the end because of society and is overall makes being a lesbian sound depressing

glad you asked! i have been sitting on the answer for a while now!

Research it. Plenty of straight males have written on the topic. Usually unfavorably, but it sounds like you want to make yours in kind. This book is a good start and reference for further titles to check out.

How come lesbians IRL are never the lipstick kind, always the butch kind?

>> No.14658450

>Keeps citing one statistic from ages ago. Still doesn’t understand the results. Pretends it means women are 100% more violent than men.
Fragility of the balls. Has to be.

Emotionally complex and sensitive women are in this demographic. They’re touchy and needy, out to prove their worth and mocho/butchness. Sometimes a domestic dispute will result for there being a bisexual partner falling out of love with their partner. No one likes love and companionship dissolving in front of their face. Sometimes it’s just overly sensitive couples calling the cops for minor things.
The poltard that cites this overblown and outdated stat also doesn’t understand that straight people also do this, also split up. These results are a manipulated lie.
Their balls are so fragile. They’re so worried about their semen’s worth

And the borderline trans couples. Yeah. You just can’t see them so much. They look normal. Also, not so much “lipstick” really. They’re the plain girls you take a pass on. Well, some of you go for them. Ashley Birch for one.

No, there are people mentioning very real trends in lesbian relationships, not that you would know anything about them because you're literally a man.

Sorry.
And obviously I meant no offense towards you and I hope none were taken.
The love themes you choose will be the same, love and loss, love triangle, seemingly incompatible love, etc. you need only graft on the detail of their sex and portray it realistically to the environment/setting. And be good. Cliché as the love story is it only has to be good. Hit all the sweet spots the reader is looking for. So you may choose a woman’s pseudonym or an ambiguous initial maybe, the reader will likely forgive this if the plot is sweet enough.
So besides reading Inseparable, I would recommend Winterson’s Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit.
Just a blind rec. I don’t know what kind of story you’ll write.

>> No.14658900

>>14658758
No offense anon but it's not clear you know enough to write even a heterosexual relationship convincingly

As for the /pol/ shit I think women with 100% obligate same-sex attraction are really, really exceedingly rare. Women have different sexual psychology than men and it should be uncontroversial to point out that the conclusion downstream from there is that lesbian isn't the same thing as gay. You have to have not run in many artistic circles or known many non-hetero people to think otherwise.

>> No.14658910

make one into a judgey bitch and another into an abuser? cause that is 90% of straight couples in fiction>>14657558
indeed so dont do that. dont make them coming out a big deal or focus on it in any way, you are not making courage fuel for rl lesbians, you are making a story that might also encourage. have story if you want your story to be liked dont make the les version of "lonely soldier comes to a small town and heals a only heart" . catadora is a good example
