14643686 No.14643686 [Reply] [Original]

I'm interested in books about the role of the artist in society/ the nature of the artist- individual traits/ as a "type" of person. I'm curious about "visiual" artists (painters, sculptors. etc. ) in particular, though I suppose books on the nature/ role/ reason of/ for creativity would also be useful. sorry for the over use of the forward-slash.

Is Hediegger really that difficult? I've been reading him recently and he doesn't seem as dense/referential as the poststructuralists

He was referring to Ezra Pound. I'd recommend looking up Pound's essay on tradition

Yee

The essay on tradition is exactly what you're looking for. It's a very broad look at what an artist and what they do. I'm actually going to read it right now, after I take a piss.
