I will be posting a series of comics that are meant to arouse emotion. Discuss whether or not they are "literature" and if they were good.

Although the art style is crude most of these have a clear set narrative and delve into varying social aspects. They aren't literature but it's a very good way to show a story in what is known as a "comic" format.

The quality of art shouldn't effect storytelling, the simple art and spelling are reminiscent of a young child perhaps of low intelligence as can be seen in this comic:

dont want to be too aggressive here but if you didnt instantly catch on that that's the intention you're pretty stupid. this isnt exactly complicated stuff and i wouldnt say reading it from that perspective is "getting creative"

>> No.1459971

I'm actually quite suprised. Originally I thought this would be some light hearted MS Paint story about pokemon, but turned into a story of the sad life of this boy.
I tip my hat to you OP, for I shed many a tear tonight.

>> No.1459972

OP here, I mean, the intention is to have the metaphors be obvious BECAUSE it is written from the perspective of a little boy, one who percieves things simply and as they are

That was really emotional.
I used to play pokemon when I was 10, I don't know if that is affacting my point of view as for this "story" goes, but the story telling is far better than many books out there.

Looks like some people can't really get into storytelling and can't understand what the word "empathy" means.

Real sad and inmature if you ask me.

>> No.1459984

Really, no more opinion on this? Last bump, hoping for some sort of consensus.

>> No.1459985

Honestly, anybody that doesn't think this should count as literature clearly doesn't understand what literature is.

It has a clear narrative line, emotional impact, and a rise and fall of tension. It may not be the most efficient or strong forms of literature, but the mere fact that the images assist the words shouldn't exclude it from the realm.

It's a style I've seen before and which, though very effective the first time, swiftly lost its charm. Also the pacing is a bit nonexistent. One or two comics is actually more effective than the whole narrative because there is no change in tension.

Love it OP. I like it more than the Clarissa one, even if the ones you posted aren't as "professional". (I'm guessing you didn't make them?) The Pokemon ones have humour and I think they're actually more original. I didn't really care about Clarissa but your main character is more loveable - I think it's the first person perspective. Reminds me vaguely of David Shrigley for some reason.
