Thus, saying "She and I was young," is as incorrect as saying "The two of us was young."

Depends. "She and I" could technically be a proper noun or whatever, and that thing could have been young.

In that case, a word of advice. There are two people, so you should refer to them in the plural. It's like the difference between 'They was young' and 'They were young'. One is obviously the more correct, no?
