Human consciousness was a mistake. We may be the most intelligent species on the planet yet we still suffer, lead meaningless lives even though we have everything. We overwork, overconsume even though it's unnecessary, all for pride and out standing in society. We still seek companionship and are afraid of loneliness. Being self aware is the cause of all our problems. If I could go back to be an primitive ape, I would do it, even if it means that I would die a brutal and painful death.

C'rrect. Only the singularity can redeem us when all consciousness are united into one super computer hive mind which will colonize and terraform the entire universe, and redeem it as well. Then we will all be redeemed in a massive ball.

You can only claim that, and its impossibility ensures that's all you will do. "Mistake" and meaning are concepts functional strictly within the human odyssey. You are looking for an excuse not to live in order to lighten your burden, a side affect of your problem solving faculties.

True, but then how does one escape (or come to terms with) it?

Couple things:
>Sauna

>Strapons

That's all I got to refute your point.

We don't all have everything, we don't all lead meaningless lives, we don't all overwork or overconsume. Some of us are even happy being recluses. Perhaps the issue with the person thinking that line of thought is actually an intense lack of self awareness, not so much of their worst features where they excelled in discovery; rather of what they would genuinely prefer to have in their lives as their most dominant priorities.

I don't think I would ever follow the beliefs of someone who is too retarded to become happy.
People who say life is suffering are typically too stupid to figure out the right combination of actions that lead to a happy life.

Your happiness won't last forever, worse it's dependent on others. You might "choose" to be happy but people around you might not feel the same for you.

>people around you might not feel the same for you.
If that's the case for you then find people who are higher quality, that is if you need other people to be happy for whatever reason.

>awareness causes suffering so we should stop being aware
Aren't you just giving up because living as a conscious human being is harder than being a plant or a bug or something? Aren't you using unhappiness and suffering as an excuse to ignore the fact that you as an aware being have vast potential and an incredible opportunity to experience Being as no other created thing can?

>> No.14585833

This fad of depressed 20-somethings who think technology and civilization need to be destroyed because they lack the impulse control to not sit around jerking off all day and feel unfulfilled because of it seriously needs to stop. Like, no Braiden, the industrial revolution wasn't a mistake just because you can't stop yourself from binge watching YouTube again.

Being Self-aware means I can identify any problems that are causing me suffering and take action to fix them.
If anything it's lack of self-awareness that leads to suffering, so it's quite possible you aren't nearly as self-aware as you think.

Rather be sad and depressed than happy but with a lack of vision and conscious awareness. Who the fuck wants to live tunnel visioned with certain task like a npc working on a algorithm till you die. It's tragic that consciousness can make you depressed at the pointlessness of things but whats the point of conscious-less life? Why do you wish to not have a choice?

I never said that happiness was eternal. If anything, it seems like a cyclical process imo. In fact, the only mention I made of it was recluses. You're kidding yourself if you think recluses are as vulnerable to "Hell is other people" as you are, especially in our modern society. But it is beyond any point I really cared about discussing originally.

THE CRISIS OF THE MODERN AGE IS OF SPIRIT, NOT OF MATTER. MANKIND HAS ARROGANTLY SHED ITS SPIRITUAL SKIN, AND NOW WE PAY THE PRICE. NIHILISM, MASS DEPRESSION, AND PSYCHOLOGICAL NEUROSES ARE THE SYMPTOMS. THE DISEASE IS THE TOTAL ABANDONMENT OF ALL HIGHER PURSUITS. PURSUITS OF KNOWLEDGE, ART, CULTURE, AND GOD.

"OOO OOO AHH AHH, ME MONKEY MAN! ME LIKE NETFLIX AND BUD LITE AND MCDONALDS,"

SAYS THE APE. IRONICALLY, AS CIVILIZATION HAS BECOME MORE TECHNOLOGICALLY ADVANCE, WE HAVE REVERTED BACK TO A MORE PRIMITIVE, IMPULSIVE STATE OF BEING. WE REGAIN OUR SPIRIT WE MUST HAVE A GREAT REAWAKENING OF SPIRITUAL VALUES. HOWEVER, THESE VALUES MUST BE SYNTHESIZED AND PLACED IN THE CONTEXT OF THE 21ST CENTURY. ANYTHING SHORT OF THIS WILL SIMPLY SERVE TO FURTHER EXACERBATE THE DECLINE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION.

Even primitive humans likely had better impulse control than the typical person living in a modern environment.
Things like hunting and gathering would have actually required quite a bit of patience and focus, which is something that fewer people possess now due to the multitude of instantly gratifying activities available to people at all times.
