Anybody else really like the book they're reading but aren't making much headway due to doing other things like listening to music and screwing around online?

Nah, the opposite happens to me. If I don't like the book I'm reading I do those fuckeries you say, but if I really like it then I don't do anything else but reading.

I often have trouble finishing books I like because they inspire so many thoughts in me that I feel I can't continue until I've thought them through. I've been trying to stop doing this, because oftentimes the author works them through in the course of the book, so thinking it out on my own time is slower and less efficient.

You should use a journal

Different poster but I have the same issue as who you’re replying to.

I think I have Aspergers (lite autism) + ADD. So I am focused on the book but also constantly going off on mental tangents in different directions.

Underlining and writing summarising sentences has helped me stay focused to the work so far.
