I'm looking at the wiki and I've got a few problems with it. Why are the lists all in image form? As someone with a shitty internet connection, I don't really care for waiting for the image to load, although it's certainly bearable. My biggest concern with the wiki is that it just throws books at your face without so much as a clue to what they're about. That's fine if you're willing to take the contributor's advice without caring what the book is about, but I think it would be much more helpful to add a description. Or rather to transform the entire thing into something like /v/'s wiki.

http://vsrecommendedgames.wikia.com/wiki//v/%27s_Recommended_Games_Wiki

That wiki is better than ours at least.

A random Anon SHOULD NOT make the sticky. Look at the sticky on /fa/ which was made by a thoughtful mod. It takes up no space on the page, yet it opens out to a vast amount of information that is very pleasing to look at. For some links, instead of describing it and then posting the link, the link IS the description. Everything looks clean and professional. We need a kind mod to spend half an hour or so here to sort us out. An anon can't do it.

Not many people have bothered to contribute to this at all. There's a thread now about what childrens' lit should go on the wiki, but I really don't see why when 4chan is 18+. It's a sincere effort though so...

We have a lot of info here in this thread. The Time reading lists and Guardian lists etc should be assimilated into the /lit/ wiki. We could do with new threads for blogs, online literary journals, online lectures and other resources. If after we've had a couple of threads on each topic there really shouldn't be any room for criticism as everyone should have had a chance to contribute.

All this info should then be sent to the mods so they can do us a quality sticky.

I know all of that. I saw all the threads talking about how bad the sticky was.

Seriously, it won't help. People coming here to ask about books want to engage with people and have discussions. They want to know why certain books are recommended. If they just wanted a list of books they could type "good books" into a search engine.

A bunch of links to random blogs and unannotated lists won't help anyone. It's like going to a bookstore with no idea what you want, except you can't even read the back cover or read the first chapter. It's a waste. You are wasting tame and contributing to a culture on this board that discourages discussion and prevents real posters from becoming involved.

You say 'fresh and new'. Get rid of one of those, I suggest 'fresh'.

You say 'comprising on' which sounds strange. Myabe just use 'including' or restructure the sentence.

Other than that it's pretty cool, except I would maybe consider the order in which you have placed the content. Longer lists like the blogs etc at the bottom. It probably doesn't matter though.

This can happen sticky or no sticky.

If you want real threads, start real threads. Contribute to the good threads started by others. If you have to, samefag your thread will informed comments arguing both sides of an issue. This board is slow and to get people involved in a thread that have read the one particular book you want to discuss will be difficult. You'll have to keep bumping with interesting discussion so the one guy who's read the book can see the thread and contribute by refuting or agreeing with one of your points.

Telling aspiring readers "fuck off, pick something from this overwhelming list of books with no descriptions" won't help at all.

No one is going to read the whole thing. None of the links at the bottom are helpful. If people are interested in these things, they will ask. When someone responds, the OP will be able to ask why that website was suggested, or where to start with that particular website.

There are real discussions to be had on this board, even in generic "recommend me something" threads. This thread is proof that /lit/'s problem is the stupidity of its regulars and trips.

A sticky won't stop those idiots from posting.

might aswell do it because it takes VERY little effort from a mod to sticky it and me and some other anons have done most of the fucking work for you you stupid cunt.

contribute constructively to the thread please or fuck off.

Anonymous is ruining this thread.
You are the reason /lit/ is shit.
You are the cancer.

>You are the cancer.
Confirmed for /b/-tard. You can leave now.

Let the board sort out its own business. We don't need some idiot like you skipping in after intermittent /lit/ visits between /fit/-body-builder-jerkoff sessions and /fa/-tights-and-scarf-whack-off adventures.

We can handle things on our own. We don't need a moron trip wandering in and adding some horseshit wall of text to the top of the board.

You missed the point because you are one of "those idiots" that won't be deterred by a sticky.

New people asking what to read aren't the scourge of this board. Morons with self-entitlement issues and nothing to contribute are the problem. You are the problem. Leave.

okay guys im going to go ahead and email moot the final draft of this sticky.

if you're not happy with it being here then please feel free to email him (his email is at the top of the page!) with any concerns/complaints!

my email is also posted in this post (hover over my trip) if you want to see anything added/taken away from it.

Uh, hi, Mods. I've been doing some thinking, and I've got some ideas to improve /lit/. I got it right here.

One, Brownbear needs to be louder, angrier, and have access to a time machine. Two, whenever Brownbear's not onscreen, all the other characters should be asking, "Where's Brownbear"? Three

dude the heyday of interactive fiction games was in like the eighties and nineties. if you were in your teens or twenties, prime game playing age, you'll be at least like 26 years old now. i played a lot of the old interactive fiction games but only because i am a nerd & i had a teacher in high school who was a real enthusiast for them - I'm 20, by the way - and even at that time they were kind of treated as old fashioned.

So, I mean, it's kind of lame that brownbear doesn't know what a grue is (seriously bring your game up) but it's also not really to be expected that a dude who's 18 or 20 now would have played IF.

thing is, i have played Zork, quite a number of times, i could never just get 'into' the game, so never got very far with it.
But yeah, i'm 18, i grew up with SNES, N64 & PS1 talk to me about them.
