Has anyone actually made money selling their writing? How did you market what you wrote? Did you hire an editor/graphic designer for book cover or dyi it?

getting published doesn't mean making money, write a few 2000-3000 word stories and submit them to local art publications, submit some shitty poems, you probably won't get paid but you'll get some exposure

famous author here. dont wanna reveal who I am for privacy but lets just say I wrote a pretty famous book with the word "moby" in it ;) my advice to young writers is to go out and live life. maybe go out on a boat and have an adventure, try some gay stuff, and then try writing your experiences as a novel.

I run a small press. you can still make money in publication, but only certain things sell. Mid-list novels, for example, are a thing of the past.

Self-publication is easy, and frankly, boasts about the same chances for success as traditional means.

If you understand Twitter, once you become a "big" account you can sell Amazon self-published books. BAP is probably the most successful political Anon who has done it, but I bet there are much more normie accounts making some okay pocket money writing self help or pornography.
I think self-publishing is the future. The game is becoming an online personality that people are invested in emotionally
