Because they're aware that the counter-revolution wasn't caused by Marxism but by denial of Marxism and by the bourgeoisie together their allies. I understand though that people whose entire analysis of counter-revolutions amounts to crying "muh authoritarianism" lack the capacity for real investigation. This is a tradition going back at least to Proudhon: never touch a history book, just simply posit two opposed abstract categories and pretend that you've explained something.
