So /lit/ a while ago I read The Bell Jar, and more recently American Psycho. Both of these books were amazing, though I did favor American Psycho. But anyways what I came here to ask about is books you have read that are about the mentally insane, or written by insane people. I am specifically looking for books written by murderers or something of that sort. I appreciate any help.

Picture is unrelated but pretty fun

If you want 400+ about a murder, then just pick up Crime & Punishment.

"Murderers" just get bio's, which of course will be shit. As for mentally insane there loads of good books.

The Gargoyle was Andrew Davidson's first novel and was definitely one of the best first books most people had ever seen.

It's about a pornstar who leads a fake and vain lifeless life who suffers horrific burns. The book follows his recovery and befriending of a patient in the psych ward. She tells him that they were lovers 1000's of years ago and every second chapter is a story set in a medieval setting that in some way connects with their past life's.

How about One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest as well. Boss. I doubt I need to tell you about it.

If you liked American Psycho you'll love Dead Babies by Martin Amis, while it's in your usual sense about mental illness you could argue everyone portrayed in its bleak future is mentally ill. The book is well known for making readers physically sick. Classic

well its a year old for one thing, but it does work.

it boils down to
(1759 + 250 + 100 *#days fapping)-birth year
2009 - birth year + 100 * [0-7]
age ( last year) + [0-700]
take last two digits, assuming you're less than 100 and you have your age(last year)

It's done way too obviously too, the subtract the year of your birth and take only last two digits steps make the mathemagic way too obvious.

The author of The Stranger is Albert Camus. Make sure you find the English translation. It's a rather short read, barely over 100 pages.

This is pretty decent. It's transcripts of interviews he did whilst on death row.

He didn't want to admit his guilt, because he was still intending to appeal, so they had him talk about himself in the third person like "So, the person who did these crimes, what do you suppose was going through his mind at the time?" and he answers those questions in a lot of detail.

Ann Rule's biography on him is the best.
