Kant was BTFO by Guenon and Indian metaphysics. Kant thought that it wasn't possible for humans to have intellectual intuition because he couldn't think of how it was possible (Guenon chastises him in 'Intro to Hindu Doctines' for wishing to impose the limits of his own ignorance upon others and for impotently substituting a theory of knowledge for Knowledge itself). The supreme irony is that Kant himself in his first critique admitted that God would have to have intellectual intuition because otherwise He would be subject to limits which could not be true as any true supreme God is unlimited. As the Upanishads state that God is really the inner Self of all beings it provides an explanation in accordance with Kant's own reasoning for how they can experience intellectual intuition (i.e. it's really God who is their inner consciousness who has this intuition) but because Kant never left Konigsberg he never had the chance to be initiated into the metaphysical teachings and associated spiritual practices which allow someone to do this.

Neoplatonism comes very close, although in a few areas it fumbles the ball and it's pretty much a dead school of thought nowadays anyways without any active tradition of practicing it. It's unfortunate really, if they hadn't been squashed by Christian persecution they quite possibly might have managed to eventually refine their system and elevate it to the same heights of perfection as the Indians.

You'd need to know the early moderns before starting with Kant. Descartes, Locke, Leibniz and Hume are the most important. Then The Prolegomena and the first Critique.

>> No.14564606

Really reading Descartes and Hume are enjoyable and worthy on their own, and those are the only ones I would personally recommend reading their own books. For Leibniz and Locke, just read the SEP article.
>>14564429
It helps to be familiar with Locke because Kant partly agrees with him. If refutation were an indicator of anything, then no philosophy before Hume and Kant would be worth reading.
