I'll ask again

What are some fundamental and patrician texts one must read in order to become fluent in understanding Technology?

I appreciate your suggestions.

Here you go, experience these in order

>Serial Experiments Lain (ps1 game)
>The Machine in the Ghost
>Engines of Creation
>On Intellegence
>Throwing Rocks at the Google Bus
>Anti-Tech Revolution (it's important to remember he wants you to be a terrorist)
Now you need to gain a basic understanding of philosophy (the Greeks, Kant, Hegel, Marx, schopenhauer @ a minimum)
>#accelerate
>Fanged Noumena
>CCRU
>Ghost in the Shell (manga)

That was the thread's premise.
>How can a beginner into this?
It will be a long and difficult road.
You must first in fact acquire an interest in technology in the first place. You have to be curious.
Why is one piece of software "better" than others, and in what ways?
Why is one set of hardware "better" than others, and in what ways?
It begins with these very basic questions that lead you to examine the instances of technology in your life and which you had previously neglected to consider.

How to get there? You have to read random things.
Tech forums and their archives.
Personal blogs.
Encyclopedias (mostly web-based).
Projects' 'About Us' pages.

You won't make it until you've started familiarizing yourself with the ways technology already impacts you and could further affect your life.

You see picrel? I bet you don't understand a word of it. And if you come across it in any of the rec'd books, you won't care to. You need to know what GNU/Linux is and what it can be used for before you can even begin to learn how it works. Otherwise, not only will you be lost, you won't even feel motivated to find the way forward.

Start using Startpage and Yandex instead of Google to search for things.

Spengler's Man and Technic is a pretty short read which has a lot of valuable insight into where exactly technology fits into a cultural/historical model, as well as his prediction for the Technic becoming the central organizing principle behind the Faustian model.

Because Google will give you shit results that are entirely based on around the 6 or so most popular websites on a subject everytime.
Not like you would know this with your severely shallow interests and understanding of topics you're barely familiar with.
