Writing is a series of symbols, I don't know where you got your definition.

People generally create writing as a means to communicate some arrangement of ideas but as a reader why should I restrict myself to recreating their arrangement? If reading causes me to have a better arrangement of ideas than they did they can fuck off desu.

>writing is a series of symbols
Speech is just a series of noises. This sentence means nothing, we're talking about the subjective construct of writing not its objective makeup. If you come up with your own arrangement separate from the author then more power to you, but that doesn't change the fact that the book is intended to communicate a specific set of ideas.

Because they were trying to communicate something with intention. Otherwise you're just reading gibberish that can mean anything. "Two-plus-two equals four" can only be interpreted so many ways.

>but that doesn't change the fact that the book is intended to communicate a specific set of ideas
and that doesn't change the fact that if it induces me to have better ones i don't have to give a shit about your inferior earlier ideas

>>14534797
that might be why you write but it's not why i read
