So is this series any good? I heard it's essentially Sopranos meets fantasy, which sounds entertaining.

I know HBO is working on a series, and I'd like to read the books before it airs. So what's your opinion, /lit/izens?

It's terrible, actually. There are no real ideas behind the series, unlike Amber, Wheel of Time, LOTR, etc. It's just incest, pedophilia, midgets, random deaths and other shock/shlock fare. There's absolutely no depth.

Pretty much this. It can take some serious time for momentum to build up, but once it does you'll find that you've read 4000 pages in a couple weeks after slowly getting into it.
