Its easy to laugh at the lovecraftiam portrayal of insanity, but after I had an encounter with a man over 500 pounds I entirely understood how someone could go insane meeting some monstrosity. When I first beheld him he was shambling into the poker room I frequent with one good leg slowly dragging a lame one behind it. His rolls of fat rippled along without regard for the bones underneath, and when he sat down he tilted hideously. His head cocking to one side, while the fat around his shoulders say level, resting heavily on his knees. The strangeness of his appearance combined with the mild stench of cheese hit me hard, and I was forced to vacate the room. Had I been forced to associate with the monstrosity, to hear some normal voice call out from the patchy bearded head I may have gone mad, if only for a moment.
