doesn't that limit the titles you're able to buy? have you ever paid to get a book rebound? I did that once. wasn't worth it. why spend money on binding that could be used to buy 3 or 4 more books?

I don't think Blackwell's fulfill their online retail all from their old Broad Street shop.
I'm not even sure how they're actually able to keep stock of as much as they do, or what arrangements they have with publishers. I've used them for the last year or so and have bought dozens of books through them with no hitch, fast shipping on titles I wasn't able to find elsewhere, especially after amazon decided to delist all of Dugin's books.
Fuckin adios to amazon anyway, fuck Bezos and his sketchy tax avoidance and employment practices, I hope Musk wins the space race 2.0

Very few book retailers do.
I met Irving once, to pick up a copy of his book Hess: The Missing Years.
He pulled up in this massive car, popped into the bank, and then took me over to the pub across the road and bought me a half pint (he offered a pint but I asked for a half because Scotland has a draconian drink drive BAC limit), and we had a brief chat about Hess, although he admitted he didn't know of any specific underlying beliefs Hess held which drove him to make his flight to Scotland.

Irving is an interesting guy. He may come across as awkward or abrasive to some, and he'll readily admit his personal prejudices. However, he's anything but intellectually dishonest, and I have faith in the rigour with which he pursues his historical research.
He continues to believe history ought to exonerate Hitler to a greater degree than I personally agree with - Hitler, Goebbels,Streicher et al certainly made the seed-bed fertile for the likes of Himmler to pursue their ambitions. Nevertheless, the lampooning and haranguing he has suffered for shedding light, adding detail and bringing nuance to a chapter of history which has been mythologised for perpetual and only spuriously related contemporary political aims, is unjust.

I appreciate the anecdote, anon. I'm a little jealous. I'd love a conversation with the man.

He comes off as honest. I've always enjoyed his books.
Odd how he was the ,"foremost historian", on the second world war , untill he quibbled over numbers.

Now, he's persona non grata
