I’m going to get into The Expanse, but what are some good books that are worth rewarding in the genre? I already read Dune.

The Expanse has some cool ideas and the physics are interesting but man the writing is bad

I'm bumping Stardust by niel gaiman even though it's fantasy instead of scifi

All of these are good. I recommend Zelazny and Dick as well.

Closest to the expanse are Alastair Reynolds' Revelation Space (better than The Expanse imo) and Peter Watts' Blindsight (which you can read for free on his website).

This.

A Fire Upon the Deep, Dune, Hyperion, Armor (by John Steakley) and Santiago: a Myth of the Far Future will together make most other space sci-fi seem like shit after you've read them

Fire upon deep is horribe, I really dont understand why it gets recommended so much

Strange. Those are all things I really like about it. Especially the characters, I find Vinge writes better and more believable characters than most sci-fi authors

>> No.14478267

The only problem with Fire is the ending. Vernor spent so much time building the world and then rushed the ending.

The Foundation trilogy by Isaac Asimov. It's all around the best work of Sci-Fi I know to this day. I also recommend the Old Man's War series by John Scalzi.
