The most interesting next step after Nietzsche might be to try to get some perspective on the absolutely STAGGERING level of distortion that his philosophy has been subjected to these last fifty years.
And yes, I said "the last fifty years", so I'm not talking about his sister or the Nazis. The misrepresentation they are guilty of is literally NOTHING compared to the kind of utter and complete twisting of everything he said that actually makes up the fucking SYLLABUS at most universities in most countries today.
There has actually been very little work done on this second, much greater "Nietzsche imposture" that set in around 1970 in France and 1980 in the US and other English-speaking countries.
Maurizio Ferraris is one of the few mainstream academic philosophers who has tried to write on Nietzsche in an even halfway honest way and that is probably the main reason why none of his stuff is translated.
But seriously, the level of LIES here is absolutely historically unprecedented. If any anon wishes to mention absolutely ANYTHING he has been taught about Nietzsche I am pretty sure that I can demonstrate to him that it is a lie.

Just to mention the ones that are usually told first in any textbook for undergrads / TV documentary / "educational" YouTube video:

(i) That his sister, or the Nazis, altered or "forged" his writings in a way that was in any relevant to the actual content of these writings. (They didn't; the books edited by his sister, and the secondary texts on him published by the Nazis, are actually much more accurate portraits of his work than 90 per cent of what is being published under his name today

(ii) He was not an anti-Semite or hostile to Jews. (He was blatantly, massively and passionately hostile to Jews throughout huge swathes of his late writing and it is just fucking ridiculous to claim not to see this. He was only "not an anti-Semite" if you understand "anti-Semite" to mean "member of a small political movement that grew up in Germany in the 1870s and 1880s and raised certain specific political demands about immigration from Eastern Europe etc. He wasn't a member of THAT party and he even mocked them from time to time but that doesn't mean he didn't consider Jews to be a poison that was threatening the very survival of humanity)
