That's because the truth eventually dawned on the boards intellectual elite that all knowledge is only a preparation for ultimate knowledge, i.e. non-dual knowledge, and that this secondary knowledge is immediately rendered unimportant by the dawning of non-dual knowledge, which itself includes within itself everything, the knowledge after which no more knowledge needs to be attained. Reading Guenon is unironically the first step for the modern westerner on the path to approaching this ultimate knowledge.

Geunonposting and butterfly constantly posting really drove the quality of the board to nothing, people also used to start reading groups every couple of weeks although they would usually fail halfway. The board has always had a lot of shitposting but at its peak I’d say there were a couple threads everyday with great discussion. And the shitposting used to require talent, you actually had to have read stuff to parody something well.

I’ve been here since 2016.

Which would be what? Endless platitude memeposting?

I regularly post and discuss Guenon, I've been here for 6years, I always engage with posters, rarely reply with fewer than a paragraph. I can say with the utmost assurance that I am one of the few quality poster on this board. The retards who spam Guenon memes haven't read him, they're the same brainlets who spend their time posting meme on /lit/. Last year we've had memers spamming Deleuze on the same scale, half of the catalogue was monopolized by Deleuze threads with no discussion. It just happens that Guenon is the flavor of the month. When Peterson was memed, there were a lot of Jungian discussion I was a part of, having read Jung extensively; yet I have no interest whatsoever for the drug-addled psychiatrist. Same goes for Guenon, I post excerpts, reply to anons, yet I do not associate with the memes themselves. It sounds like you've been pleb-filtered by Guenon, more than you are annoyed with the memes.

Some of us have actually read the Greeks & co, we come here to discover new authors. Discussing Plato & Tolstoy ad infinitum is beyond my interests. Pseuds who cling onto academia approved philosophers do so specifically because they barely have any experience with either philosophy or literature. I have read many /lit/ memes; Stirner, TK, DFW, Guenon, Mccarthy etc... Some were good, some less so. So, you're either a newfag, or an undergradute discovering philosophy. Get good, stop whining. Some of us have had a two decade headstart.

I've been here for 1 year. The board was already bad when I came here but still managed to drop in quality. This place is terrible and should be avoided like the plague. The less time I spend here, the happier I am. On the days where I have free time I spend multiple consecutive hours reading. I am talking to this girl, and she's really amazing, and the literary discussion I have with her is so much better than anything I've had on /lit/. I'm starting to feel good. Anyway, blogpost over. Free yourself from your chains. I'm going to drink my coffee and sit outside and probably finish the last 200 pages of the book I'm reading.

There are none. Keep reading and hopefully you'll eventually meet someone with similar interests. I finally found someone who likes serious literature, we don't have a big overlap between authors we've read, but I'm making compromise by reading some of their favorites just so I can have somebody to talk to literature with.

I wish. This board is full of retards but at least you can sometimes have discussions about out of the box philosophers. Pretty much anything goes here, it's pretty remarkable that there seems to be an equal amount of leftist/Marxist type people and right wingers. However the average thread is a massive shitfest. You don't get that on reddit, but then reddit is reddit. Good moderation but full of oversocialized bugmen who only read what their professors tell them to.

Clearly the content of discussion is more important to me than quality seeing as I'm still here.

For me it's the intensity of the discussion. As shit as it may be this is the Piraeus of our time, the salon of decline and a secret society formed of the exiled, or those not yet aware of the Western censors. There is no discussion in our time and those who find themselves here are attempting to understand this new form of communication, where even the subject and consequences have become impossible.

What’s wrong with discussing religion? Theology overlaps with philosophy through the scholastic age and beyond. How are you meant to moderate discussion of philosophy while trying to remove all theology? How would someone discuss a writer like Augustine in that case? Same with religiously inspired literature like Dostoyevsky, the conversation is naturally going to end up in these places. Limiting topics will just make the place a miserable void like r/literature

i walk upon a well-worn path
in a forest known since i was young
yet all around me new trees grow
and songs of strange birds are sung
the branches are thick overhead
the air is musty and dark
where has that happy past fled?
how great it pains my heart

yet through that thick panoply
of tangled vines and briars
still stray light beats through
and sets the dark afire
as i walk upon this now strange road
of mottled light and shadow
i spy a quiet and well-kept grove
a green and grassy meadow

as i beat towards that tranquil place
to escape this unfamiliar land
i see an old man sitting there
slow of movement and calm of hand
i ask him what has happened here
where have the good days gone?
when i look around i shed a tear
from where has my past been torn?

the old man simply smiles at me
his visage mild and meek
and leads me to a sunny hill
where we can better speak
"why worry about the forest trees,
riddled with brambles and thorns?
you can't nurture every seed
nor every flower mourn"

"yet even in these foreboding woods,
where vile creatures roam,
there are bright and happy fields
that you can make your home.
find yourself a bubbling stream
where clear water still flows;
and rid that place of every weed
and nurture there what grows"

"and every day along the path
which you had once roamed,
old friends may stumble by
and visit your abode.
and some days none may come at all,
and others only trouble;
but still you must stand tall
and clear away the rubble"

"and if a youth stumbles by
who knows not right or wrong,
sit him upon your knee
and guide him along.
and answer his questions earnestly
and show him calm and patience
and for answers furnish him
with the wisdom of the ages"

"even though time may pass you by
and the world grow queer and strange
you will always have that happy grove
that clear and tranquil place
and good company to keep
though it be few and far between
that, young man, is enough for me
to keep me smiling keen"

and i left that sunny place
buoyed of heart and mind
the past narry bothered me
as i left the man behind
and i returned to that strange road
focused on the path ahead
and let no strange sounds goad
me from the future i will abet.
