14442404 No.14442404 [Reply] [Original]

>Live in the UK
>90% of the country is either farmland, housing or retail spaces
>The 10% of truly wild nature remaining is so far north and west that unless you live in those places you face a 6 hour+ car journey or a £200+ 8 hour train/bus ride just to get there
>When you do get there you realise the only reason it's been left alone is because it's freezing cold mountains without a tree in sight
>So for 99% of the population, truly wild nature is so far out of their reach it might as well not exist
>And for the 1 in 1,000,000 guy who says "fuck civilisation", he faces an existence in one of the harshest environments on earth
Is it any real wonder people drink themselves unconscious, drug themselves silly, eat themselves to vomiting or spend their lives playing video games and watching netflix and working dead end jobs to finance it all? They destroyed it all, every last bit of inhabitable land was divvied up and sold off. Even that tiny % who come face to face with the truth of life are only rewarded with the knowledge "you're too late". We live in the worst time period on Earth that has ever been.

you'd be a depressed incel in any context you found yourself in. ted was coping, even when he went out into the wilderness he couldnt find happiness, he spent the whole time seething that people outside of the artificial bubble he created for himself were having sex and enjoying their lives. cope more

Unironically move to the states bruh
All the nature you could want, as close to it's natural state as you're gonna find. Sure, you gotta deal with the ameritards, but if I'm reading you right murica has the aesthetic you're looking for

Grew up in rural Washington and now in Japan, the thing I miss most is the wide open spaces without people for miles around. Fuck these over developed, tiny ass islands. Unless you're in the great outdoors you're missing really living. This era is truly cucked but you can find yourself a piece of something better

The only people who romanticise the bush are urbanites who have never been in it. After four fucking days in a land cruiser without a shower smashing your arse over corrugated roads you pretty quickly realise there's nothing worth shit anywhere between Betoota and Tennant Creek.

>"but what about muh love of the land"
Yeah, love of MY land. Farmers love their fields and they love putting them under the plough. Country people can and do love the land without loving wilderness.

Having wilderness is important and national parks are good for this purpose. Attaching some mystical significance to a vast empty space of absolutely fuckall is moronic.

funny how bugmen cannot -consider- the existence of other modalities of experience. But I am fooling myself, negation of everything non-liberal is the core principle of liberalism. What if the poster just logged onto his computer atfer a day in the wild? It could never occur to you. This is crucial aspect of liberalism, as Foucault understood. Liberalism negates anything that threatens its survival but at the same time does NOT recognize the existence of such a threat - unlike djihadists, for example, who both recognize and give credibility to their american/western nemesis, the liberal West does not recognize their struggle as REAL - instead they are perceived as backwards, primitive, held back by poor socio-economic context, superstitions... nothing inherently opposed to liberal fundamentalism, simply material obstacles to be overcome (inevitably) along the (totalitarian) linear progression of history.
