>Start reading this
>It's really good
>The moment he becomes a doctor everything screeches to a hault and it becomes incredibly boring, ponderous and a chore to read

Is it even worth finishing or have I already read all the 'good parts'?

If your first response to even a little bit of pushback from a book challenges your always seeking entertainment above all else reptilian brain that your first response is to post on /lit/ complaining and not bringing anything new to this already godforsaken board then yes then I encourage you to drop it since clearly you need to reevaluate your hobbies and thus you'll never have the satisfaction of reading the books fantastic ending whose theme of tragedy shall never be resolved in your mind like literary blueballs

what's special about the ending? I thought it was weird from the moment that blind guy came back, especially the taxi part at the end

anyways you'll find it entertaining again in like 100 pages, he'll quit his job and keep wandering around

what's the point of wasting your time reading manheim's journey to the end of the night when you can just read céline's voyage au bout de la nuit

The novel peaked when he was in Africa

It peaked when he was in WW1, then it peaked again in America, only to decline when he went back to France. French part still has some great scenes, like when womans bleeding cunt reminds him of his decapitated colonel, or the boat party, but overall it should be half as long
