The closest to Don Quixote humans will ever be able to witness.
What are some other characters that are analogous to him?

i think there is nobody like him alive today and it makes me sad
i saw a funny thing on here earlier today, a link to some medium post "Living By Purpose — How To Find Your Meaning In Life", by some fucking nobody, i didn't even read it quite honestly but it made me think, what the fuck does some dork with an office job and an apartment and a girlfriend and a tv and video games and a "life" as they call it know about meaning? what could some "writer for medium dot com" possibly say about living a meaningful life when his life is the same as everyone else's in every respect that matters? is there even anyone alive today whose life is radically different from that? and i couldn't really think of anyone and it made me feel a bit depressed
but then i saw this post and thought you know terry didn't have an office job or an apartment or a girlfriend or a tv or video games or anything resembling the ubiquitous "modern life" as it's lived by the typical westerner, and it made me happy that at least one person managed to escape it, whether by choice or not
i don't know if his life was meaningful or good, whether what he said was divinely inspired or the effect of a debilitating mental illness or a bit of both, but at least when someone like terry talks about "meaning" there exists even the slightest possibility that he's right

You think it's necessary to be some shut in loser to be able to write how to live purposefully? Or do you need to be some travelling braindead hippie backpacker?

Judge not a book by its author, lest ye be judged on Uzbeki goat milking forums.

You should have read that article to see if your preconceived notions were right. Terry is a warning. He is icarus. He flew too close to the sun of "meaning." He was amazing but also led astray and his life went from something good to bad quickly. You need to live in this real world, you have to.

I agree with you except where you point to modern life as the culprit.
The thing Terry had that these fucking imbeciles didn't was a sense of purpose first, and then the conviction to actually chase it which is what separated him from the plebs.
It's not enough to just be right about what purpose or meaning. You have to actually get up and go do it, and follow it through to the end, and that's what Terry did that almost nobody else does.

REMINDER Terry Davis' definition of work is NOT everyone else's. He considered being homeless a form of work that would bring him glory.
