no it's surprisingly unintuitive and badly worded given it's reputation. I'm not a brainlet and I have no problem learning I just can't believe how structurally messy and badly worded this book is

C&P. Prior to this I read Demons and was perplexedly underwhelmed. But only having finished the first two parts of C&P so far, this is a very interesting book and I'm much more taken by Dostoevsky now than I was then. Also read Notes just the day before I started C&P and thought it was peak lit, so I will later have to reconsider my feelings towards Demons and read it again.

Knut Hamsun's On Overgrown Paths, or whatever it's called in English - reading it in German. It's pretty damn good actually, I really like Hamsun: I have read Pan before and plan on reading Victoria next.

I'm starting a big Sherlock Holmes collection today, hoping it's good. I haven't read something I could just easily digest in so long, and my other reading is the Sefer Yetzirah so it's relief. What do others think of the stories he's in?

Usually i don't like skipping over stuff but i just can't finish "The dream-quest of unkwown Kadath". I don't even know what to think of it, it just reads like someone's first draft of a fantasy novel. Tthings just happen randomly, he keeps name dropping places without almost any explanation causing his worldbuilding to be extremely convoluted and rushed. In the first 20 pages he gets kidnapped to some amazon warehouse on the moon and from absolutely nowhere an army of cats save him????????? It's just one after another scene of completely and utter nonsence that is never tourched upon much only so we can have the next scene happen which is equally baffling and pointless.

This book is amazing. With just a basic understand of calculus and linear algebra Leonard Susskind will guide you to a deep understanding of Electro-Magnetism. The book is full of character and Leonard cuts through the bullshit that a typical physics textbook subjects you to.

>Steppenwolf is a poetical self-portrait of a man who felt himself to be half-human and half-wolf. This Faust-like and magical story is evidence of Hesse's searching philosophy and extraordinary sense of humanity as he tells of the humanization of a middle-aged misanthrope. Yet his novel can also be seen as a plea for rigorous self-examination and an indictment of the intellectual hypocrisy of the period.
A story about a neurotic, suicidal, autistic boomer meeting a thot, getting roped into her thottery and doing drugs with her and her bull. And I paid for that.

McCarthy's Child of God (which I got for Christmas)
I'm not too far in yet but it's honestly more disturbing to me than Blood Meridian was. Ballard's degeneracy and deviancy are something I am way less desensitized to than the Glanton Gang's gratuitous violence.
I was reading the Borders triology beforehand and had honestly somewhat forgotten about this side of McCarthy.

no, you're definitely a brainlet. a chemical engineering graduate in my team used that book to teach herself the C programming language to a fair standard within a few weeks.
don't worry, you're not alone. i'm also a brainlet. I used C Primer Plus to learn C. most people who praise K&R as some kind of tech bible haven't actually read it either.
