I remember Going Postal being pretty straightforward. I'm a sucker for those comedic settings though. I think the postal angle was a good setting to dig deeper into.

For me the era from Mort up to Small Gods was discworld at its peak. Pratchett still wrote decent comedy for a long time after that, but the spark of fantasy was somehow gone from his later work.
