Because you can derive greater enjoyment and benefit from things of superior quality. I do think the flaws of certain things do become apparent and make the thing itself less fulfilling (and thus less appealing) over time, as we grow. I don't think is some sort of "determined path" as the other anon accused, though, as it has many subjective aspects.

True, there are certainty films or whatever which I liked as a child which I know see the flaws of, but then there are those which I have never ceased to enjoy, either. But who says that you can't enjoy the old while also searching for something new and engaging?
