People hate on 12 Rules for Life for being "like a self-help book" (when the author explicitly states he is aware it is partly a self-help book and that he there is nothing wrong with that, people do need help every now and then). Then they start praising shit like Meditations which is like 12 Rules except with worse advice.

Most people are probably referring to the abridged or essentials of Marcus Aurelius when they say it's a quick read.

I've only read the essentials, it's super palatable. It's written in an entry (?) style format and has really nice insights. Probably one of my favorite philosophers.

I only read the essentials but I'd say it's a good read nonetheless, especially as an intro to stoicism. It's written in a straightforward entry(?) format and is super palatable. One of my favorite philosophers.
