Some of the dialogue is pretty funny and some action scenes are pretty cool, but everything else is total shit, except Tower of the Swallow because it's really great. Honestly just read the short stories and if you don't like them then don't read the saga, if you do like them read the rest.

I have read all of them and enjoyed them, but I doubt I would have liked them if I hadn't played the games first. You'd have to admit the translation's prose is awful. I don't know how it is in the original.
