Are The Witcher books good or shit?
They were written by a salesman so I doubt they are good

>> No.14334998

shit

The first short story collection is OK.
The Second is mostly absolute trash except 2 that were better than those in the first collection.
Going by these I suspect the rest of the actual stories are a hit and miss, great highs and terrible lows and an abundance of "meh".
So, I guess if you love the games you'll like the books because you're already emotionally involved with the characters, so to say.

pure shit, both on its own, and as an adaptation

The way he inserts chapters' titles into the short stories is the cringiest thing I've ever read.
Some parts are really funny if you read it in Polish, but I assume the translations are absolute shit.
His prose is absolute shit as well, he spews out words that don't really make any sense stringed together, and he refuses to use simpler language like, you know, they did in fucking Medieval. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the fact he uses false friends fucking incorrectly at times, like holy fuck???

The saga is pretty comfy at times, though, especially Tower of the Swallow. Some books are boring as fuck too. Tbh, the dialogue is the only good thing about his books, even though often it's really shit too.

But the use of language is so absurd like I mentioned before. Nobody ever in the history of Poland talked like most of the characters, it's just so ridiculous.
