In all seriousness, I used to think "The Great Gatsby" was overrated and boring. A woman I knew brought to my attention that the two men kill the extra-marital affairs of each other's spouses without ever even meaning to do so. So I re-read it and really enjoyed the intricacies of how the plot unfolds, and how ultimately, nobody cared that Gatsby was dead, although they could all be bothered when he was throwing a massive party. I didn't appreciate it that much, but now I think it's one of my all-time favourites.

The Great Gatsby was an OK book but really is your mind that blown? Symbolism is rarely useful and generally just masturbation. "Eyes of God" was actually useful in the GG but you don't need the colors green and gold to symbolize money when everyone in the book is a rich fucker anyways. Fitzgerald was just waving his dick.
