The Stand, same author.

Dresden Files. But honestly, nothing will ever compare to the quest for the tower

>> No.1429148

LOTR, lolz.
Other King's novels for reference

>> No.1429196

The Chronicles of Amber by Roger Zelazny is pretty non-traditional for the genre, has magic and science, royalty, treachery, twists and swerves, occult symbolism, alternate realities, a quest towards an ultimate reality, and even a reference or two to the Eliot poem.

Not really too similar in style, but you might enjoy them.

A song of ice and fire series. Not so similar in subject matter but in fantasy of broad scope. Much better than dark tower series IMO. But it's not finished so you'll have to wait for the last couple books.

Fantastic series!

I feel awful though that my copy of Shadow & Claw is destroyed.
I brought it to work one summer day so I could read it during my lunch break and when I went to get it the summer sun was so hot that the binding glue melted and all the pages came spilling out.

You should check out 'It' and 'Insomnia' if you haven't already.

Well, you could always go into Stephen King's expanded Dark Tower universe, including >>1429118 and >>1430044, both of which feature Randall Flagg.

i've been searching for a quest like the dark tower ever since i finished the books as well. nothing has come close.

just try to read some other king material and every so often, come back and live it again. i'm about a week a way from re reading the entire series

Hi guys, currenty reading the Dark Tower series. Just finished #5

Should I read the sixth book or skip straight to 7? I don't really want to read a whole book about Susannah... she's boring

>>1432060
#6 is a low point, but I'm afraid you'd get lost without it, son.

NO ONE has a serious suggestion, then? Wow.

Okay then.

Well, it really depends on what you liked about the Dark Tower series... and it being King's sort of magnum opus, it's difficult to find something so epic in scope. King has created his own mythology and has been tweaking it almost his whole career, hence the other King recommendations. It's not completely unheard of, but the last author before him I can think of who did it was Tolkien and probably before him Lovecraft, but the styles of those writers aren't nearly as accessible.
