Reading it right now, about half way through. I like it, though I wish it was in chronological order, it’s hard enough for me to deal with all the point of view changes.

Good entry point to Faulkner's novels, but lacks the greatness of the more difficult Sound/Fury and Absalom Absalom.

Faulkner is one of many in a tradition of self-indulgent US authors who made a career writing garbage.

Others include: Philip Roth, John Updike, Norman Mailer, Ernest Hemingway, Cormac McCarthy, David Foster Wallace, etc

I don't include Pynchon because although he is self-indulgent he has actually written some amazing books, like Mason and Dixon.

Started it today and just finished the chapter where Addie dies. Sound and Fury is a lot more difficult to read, imo. As i lay dying feels more organized and coherent, and the chapters seem to be in chronological order; is I wrong?

Read it earlier this year and loved it. It's humorous, it's tragic, and it gives poetic voice to characters that modern media would treat as worthless idiots. It was the first Faulkner book I've read and I'm looking forward to reading more.

Ignore this tard. It's presented in chronological order. The only part I found confusing was the scene where they're forging the river. It was super confusing to follow exactly what was happening.

I agree with you but Hemingway is just OK, not good.

I read it, but i didnt seem to find it super enjoyable. I honestly didnt even like it. I struggle to find meaning beyond: look how generally miserable this shit it. I have no particular interest in america or the south though so maybe thays why I dont give a shit about any of faulkners works no matter how hard i try
