Does anyone have any good resources on the history of how racists twist language to manipulate people? I know Hitler consciously employed medical terms and was able to bring the population to believe that he was "purifying" society by eliminating a "disease," however he was neither the first nor the last person to employ such tactics. Any recommendations?

>> No.14278125

Can't think of any one book in particular. If you just search JSTOR for things like "fascism semantics organism/organic" you will find things. There's a book called Hitler's Ideology which catalogues Hitler's biological metaphors. A very recent essay by Michael Ruse (as in, not sure if it's published yet) talks a bit about whether Darwinian/Spencerian language gave Nazi ideology its scientific framework, and whether this automatically becomes pseudo-science simply because the Nazis operationalized it for ends considered sinister by posterity.

This is a commonplace however, so it should be all over the literature. The problem will really be separating genuinely meaningful scholarly discussions of it from older, simply taken for granted statements of it in the literature (like the old "Hegel's state-over-individual philosophy / Nietzsche's will to power is responsible for the Nazis" memes), as well as more recent but equally shallow (for instance psychoanalysis, or similarly shallow po-mo treatments) analyses. There are undoubtedly good books and articles on this, but there are undoubtedly also hundreds of articles limply declaring that organic metaphors automatically imply someone is a conservative and being a conservative automatically means someone's a fascist.

If you want to dive a little bit deeper, check out Heidegger's Roots by Bambach or Wampole's Rootedness, which uses Blumenberg's idea of absolute metaphors to talk about how different historical thought movements have been essentially reliant on the explanatory model of roots and uprootedness.

There is no such thing as "racism." It's a term coined by a Jew in the 1930's. What you're referring to is simply evolutionary domination.

ironically modern leftists are purely reactive, they no longer dream of revolution, but merely of defending the liberal orthodoxy, the managerial state and corporate social engineering. They fear contamination. Even the identity politics radicals see themselves as helpless therapeutic subjects, no longer any authentic culture to defend, sick people looking for medicine, validation from a benevolent white liberal other. I see fascism as an antihumanist revolutionary project, a rejection of christian liberal slave morality and an unapologetic aspiration towards greatness.

This. Think about all the 'truths' we take for granted because of language we've been taught. We call blacks humans, and look at all the ramifications that has on our society. If we classified them as primitive hominids, which is more accurate, human rights wouldn't apply to them.

>It’s not simple rhetoric, I am looking for something mechanical that is specific to fascist manipulation of language
I think this is innately a wrong lense of analysis since you are assuming direct causation where there probably isnt one. There may be coralative eliments to be sure, but its probably a better idea to learn about universal, or at least commonly applicable trends. WHen you say "facist" its kind of general while not being universal. Its probably different in japan italy or germany if we talking about the early 1900's sort. even then, its not a monolith of ideology. You kinda have to see the societal progression in rhetoric.

>> No.14279478

Everyone manipulates language because it is an effective means of precluding ideas that you don't like from coming into being.

As for fascist organicist language, it stems from their fixation on the pre-political or substrate-level foundations of immanent political regimes, that is, the supposedly biological foundation of states. Per fascist (and especially national socialist) ideology the state and society are natural outgrowths of these biological units (family, race, arguably nation). A common phrase you see around here is that "politics is downstream from culture" and "culture is downstream from biology". With this conception it follows that a healthy politics cannot exist without a healthy body. You see where this is going?

They see the cultivation of healthy bodies as the entire point of politics, because healthy (strong, attuned, ready-to-strike) bodies must, per their determinism, produce everything wondrous and good. In this way for the fascist there is no essential difference between personal acts and political acts if they are oriented towards cultivating the body. Ever consider how the fascist obsession with fitness relates to the fascist obsession with race purity? For the fascist, dysfunction and decay are never of social or political origin. Dysfunction and decay indicate rather that the "type of people that produce dysfunction and decay per their natural inclinations" are here, and must be cut out like a disease.

As you can probably tell I have some sympathy for these views, though they are a bit childish and fantastical. Anyways, hope you enjoyed a view of their (our?) minds

If you have had any personal experience with the screeching victimhood constituencies leftists are trying to shove down our throats. They are unhappy, and resentful, by their own account their sense of self is based on disease, particularly mental disease, they don't want to achieve great things, they want to be pitied. if let to their own devices they will drag us all down to their level. you see there is nothing ''wrapped'', about eugenics, it is rational and mercyful. Humanity has been deceived against its own nature by 70 years of propaganda. post wwii culture is an anomaly in its denial of the sacrificial order. the swastika is a vedic symbol. You learn nothing in school about literature nothing about heroes, and conquerors and poets, they have been replaced by the allmighty victim, that inspires no respect and only demands to be pitied and demands you feel shame. the tree of life must be pruned so it may bear fruit and flower of human achievement might blossom, the victims must be sacrificed and burnt until not even the ashes remain. the balance of the universe must be restored.

>how racists twist language to manipulate people

Orwell predicted that the bad guys would try to "strip language down to the bone" so that it was impossible to talk about anything but what they wanted.

In reality, words develop their own meanings whether your want them to or not. Replace "nigger" with "urban youths", and 5th-graders will start calling each other "urban youths" instead. So what actually happened is that the meanings of words change constantly, and you have to memorize the latest meaning to show your loyalty.

The way racists, in particular, use this is by having double meanings for the same word (if the Indians get killed it's a battle; if the settlers get killed it's a massacre). Then they can maintain their fantasy that it's who you are, not what you do, that matters.

Try it at home! Switch some euphemisms around ("The Battle of Mountain Meadows", "The Bunker Hill Massacre") and see who gets mad!
