Aesop’s tales are childish and foolish because foxes and wolves talk.

Yet in the Bible a snake and a donkey talk and adults are supposed to take it seriously. No, “deep” even!

You can learn from all type of characters and situations, opposed to tedious psychological analyses. Also, please refrain from making such poor, useless threads that have been made constantly over the last months.

Most people don't read fiction, so you're in the consensus. Why do I read fiction? I enjoy reading fiction and writing fiction. There's no grandiose reason for anything. If you feel it's pointless then don't read it. I personally find most non-fiction and self-help worthless drivel.

I'm quite sure this is a critique of """enlightened Rationalists""" by pointing out how they miss the point of the tales by focusing on the obviously incorrect aspects rather than the possible lessons that could be gained from them. This could be compared to how an athiest will cry about how a "sky wizard" makes no sense while ignoring the plenty lessons presented within the bible or dismissing the idea that believing in such a wizard could help a person cope with reality (though God isn't necessarily as inconceivable in the same way a talking animal is)
