Marxism can't be solved as it itself is an attempt at solution. If solution needs a solution itself, it's not saying much.

Gramsci did not solve anything, he, just like Lukasc, made observations about why marxism fails in their contemporary world and constituted that world (the people) is not ready.
That's it.
And frankly, marxism isn't dead, because it is an attempt upon removing faults of capitalism, but communism, and socialism for that matter, took the wrong path when Lenin became the dominating authority over it and was killed by inept intelligencia inside Bolshevic party, later in Communist party. Literally idealogy is dead carcass now that attracts worm like creatures to feast on each other's excrements inside the rotting corpse. It's pathetic and saddening.
You can't have anyone, anymore, intellectually honest to be subscribed to marxism without them being clinically depressed.

To the contrary, communism for a time looked to be completely superior to capitalism because of how quickly the USSR industrialized. But because the central planners made bad decisions the Soviet economy could make nice tanks but not a laundry machine, leading to economic stagnation over time vis a vis the west and eventual collapse. This was hardly the case in every eastern block country, decentralized planning in the DDR produced more overall growth than in the BRD in the same period, though due to The disparity in starting GDP and Soviet pillaging of the country for heavy machinery as ‘reparations’ the DDR was still well behind the BRD in ‘89. The nice thing about this new era of powerful computers and the internet is that we can make monstrously efficient central planning computers and then decide what inputs to give them via democratic consensus.

Intellectualism is how these people justify the hierarchies needed for them to operate. By designating a group as fundamentally anti-intellectual, they can essentially be dismissed as subhuman. It's kind of funny coming from a group that typically claims "humanity" as something universal, immutable, and the basis of rights.
